Unity Developer for VR Robotic Prosthetic Training System

Do you love video games, are highly creative, and want to develop games that help people use robotic prosthetics? If so read on:

We need a Unity developer to help us design, develop, and test training games for upper extremity amputees. These games will help amputees learn to control myoelectric prosthetics – essentially robot hands controlled by muscle signals. In this role you’ll be rapidly developing game ideas, including graphical assets and the backend, testing the prototypes with users, and then writing production ready code ready for integration into our Java frontend.
You’ll be working in a close-knit startup environment with a team of engineers that value entrepreneurship, individual drive, and delivering immediate impact to patients in need.

This is a ~3 month contract position (min 20 hrs/week) with opportunities for follow-up work.

About IBT:
Infinite Biomedical Technologies is a small medical device company that spun out of Johns Hopkins University and has been in existence for 17 years, maintaining an active research and development program in collaboration with the University researchers. Our mission is to develop innovative medical devices that functionally improve the lives of patients. Currently, we are developing technology at the interface between people with upper limb amputations and their prostheses. We carry out research (sponsored mainly by the National Institutes of Health), develop in house technology as well as carry out experimental and clinical testing. We have a unique approach that starts from our ability to connect with patients and care providers to determine individual needs. To date, we’ve launched 3 products in the field of prosthetics, with over 400 patients served and sales to over 50 unique clinics in the US and distributors in twelve countries.

What you’ll need for this position:
Education:
•Degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering OR equivalent experience

Must have skills & experience:
•2+ years with Unity and C#
•2+ years programming role
•Knowledge and expertise in both 2D and 3D game development
•Experience with usability studies/testing
•STRONG documentation skills in code commentary and flow charts
•Git Hub or other version control system
•Has implemented saved game data, like player progress, in a structured and extensible format
•Ability to work nights and weekends to support accelerated product development schedules
•Unrelenting intellectual curiosity and pride in doing awesome work
•Action and detail oriented
•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with people outside of the field

Nice to have skills/experience:
•Previous experience in launching a video game
•Experience integrating Microsoft Kinect 2.0 and/or Oculus Rift with Unity
•Experience with Java frontends

Other:
•Huge plus if you can work in our Baltimore office – or come in occasionally to review progress
